Iran earns place among 29 license holders of int’l center for quality certification

As the first country in West Asia, Iran has established a quality control and international standard certification center for explosion-proof equipment to join the club of 29 countries in the world that have been granted the license for an international center for quality certification.
Mohsen Mir-Sadri, the director of the Tehran-based knowledge-based EPIL testing, inspection and certification company, that launched the center, said the International Electrotechnical Commission System for Certification to Standards Relating to Equipment for Use in Explosive Atmospheres (IECEx System) is the most credible conformity assessment system for explosion-proof equipment which works as a useful tool for manufacturers, regulators and users.
EPIL was granted the license for the IECEx-approved lab after going through a six-day inspection by experts from Australia, South Africa, and China.
The inauguration of the center will save Iranian manufacturers a considerable amount of money and time as they had to send their products to other license-holding countries in order to get them internationally approved.
Mehdi Eslampanah, the head of the National Standards Organization of Iran hailed the achievement amid relentless Western sanctions on Iran as a “big step aimed at improving quality and moving towards international and global trade.”
