Afshin: Office of VP for Science, Technology and Knowledge-based Economy govt. think-tank,

Iran’s Vice-president for Science, Technology and Knowledge-based Economy Hossein Afshin says President Masoud Pezeshkian emphasized to him that he has a broader view of the office of the vice-president and that President Pezeshkian called the office the wing of the government ministries, the government think tank and the pursuer of technology.

Afshain expressed hope that the office of the Vice-President for Science, Technology and Knowledge-Based Economy will push ahead on the path with full force.

Afshain, who has replaced  Ruhollah Dehghani Firouzabadi, noted that he and Firouzabadi are friends and colleagues.

He described replacing Firouzabadi as difficult and hailed him as a highly-educated and ethical man.

Afshain stated that his policy is that the scientific vice-chancellor should not hold office anywhere as much as possible and that it will only be an employee of the ecosystem of innovation.

Iran’s Vice-president  further thanked President Pezeshkian for trusting him.

He then spoke about his plans for the office, saying he will certainly designate a section to students. “I believe that students are the driving force of human resources, and the country’s development is contingent on the student sector, and creativity develops from childhood”, Afshain stressed.

In other remarks, he said that under him, the office of Vice-President for Science, Technology and Knowledge-Based Economy will continue to stay out of politics, just as it’s been the case thus far.
