Iran to introduce prestigious award for Iranian scientists

In a gathering of scientific leaders, Ruhollah Dehghani, the Vice President for Science, Technology and Knowledge-Based Economy, highlighted the critical role of exceptional scientific research in propelling Iran’s knowledge-based activities.

To honor and bolster domestic scientists pivotal to the nation’s scientific advancement, Dehghani announced the establishment of a distinguished scientific award akin to the Mustafa Prize.

The Mustafa Prize is a science and technology award, granted to top researchers and scientists from the Organization of Islamic Cooperation member states.

Underlining Islam’s profound reverence for science and knowledge, Dehghani expressed the need to genuinely support and honor scholars and scientists.

He voiced dissatisfaction with the current approach of recognizing scientific leaders through a federation, deeming it an inadequate format for appreciating the nation’s top scientific figures.

Dehghani revealed plans to launch the prestigious award, with a substantial monetary value of at least $100,000, to laud outstanding Iranian scientists effectively contributing to scientific development.

He emphasized the importance of a strong focus on scientific research, aligning it with the nation’s needs and future prospects.

Additionally, he stressed the necessity of maintaining a symbiotic relationship between knowledge-based companies and universities, which is crucial for sustained progress.

Dehghani’s vision is to cultivate purposeful scientific research, ensuring a brighter economic and technological future for Iran.
