BRICS industry ministers meet in Russia, discuss synergy, knowledge-based capabilities

The industry ministers of BRICS member states held a meeting in the Russian city of Nizhny Novgorod to weigh the group’s capacities in advancing knowledge-based economy’s objectives, Iran’s House of Innovation and Technology (iHiT) in Russia reported.
The two-day meeting, centered on the modern industrial revolution, was chaired by Russia’s Minister of Industry and Trade Anton Alikhanov and attended by the member states’ ministers or deputies, representatives of the United Nations Industrial Development Organization (UNIDO) and the Eurasian Economic Union.
The member states informed the gathering of the industrial developments in their countries regarding the positive effects of regional synergy between the developing states and multilateral interactions between the members, and proposed strategies to attain the objective of industrial development.
Iranian Deputy Industry Minister Seyyed Mohammad Mousavi also briefed the participants on Iran’s progress in modern technologies, including artificial intelligence, Internet of Things, blockchain, cloud computing, robotics, and medical as well as genetic engineering.
He also expounded on Iran’s new solutions in various sectors of industry and mining, health, agriculture, animal husbandry, and transportation.
Mousavi said Iran’s membership in the BRICS is a valuable opportunity for sharing experiences and facilitating industrial and commercial interactions.
On the sidelines of the meeting, iHiT set up Iran’s pavilion in an exhibition held on the knowledge-based products of the member states.
