Iran, Cuba seal sci-tech cooperation deal

The Iranian Presidential Office’s Department for Science, Technology and Knowledge-Based Economy has signed a cooperation agreement with the Cuban Ministry of Science, Technology and Environment (CITMA).

The deal was clinched during a visit to Tehran by Cuban President Miguel Díaz-Canel and his entourage.

The joint agreement is aimed at boosting and developing scientific and technological partnership based on the principles of equality and mutual interests in accordance with pertinent laws and regulations through the development of joint ventures in different areas, namely nano-science and –technology, biotechnology, climate change and other mutually agreed spheres.

Under the agreement, the two sides will also work together on exchanging or designating scientists and researchers to conduct joint projects or share experiences, transfer or share technologies in scientific, technological and innovation areas, organize or support symposiums, conferences, committees, seminars and workshops as well as training courses in areas of mutual interest, establish a  joint working committee and set up a joint science and technology center.
