Iranian vice president urges utilization of all capacities to achieve scientific, technological dominance

Iranian Vice-President for Science, Technology and Knowledge-Based Economy has highlighted the importance of keeping science and technology independent from political affiliations.

During a meeting of the deputy heads’ council of the vice presidency, Hossein Afshin drew parallels between regressive movements in the history of science, stating “We must learn from history; we should not treat scientific movements like the church did during the Middle Ages.”

Afshin underscored the importance of unity in the scientific field, noting that the most significant manifestation of unity should be spotted in scientific endeavors.

He emphasized, “The focus should be on the content of what is being said, not who is saying it,” suggesting if a topic contributes to the country’s progress and development, it should be supported and utilized.

The vice president warned regressive movements in the history of science have sacrificed synergy and reality for prejudice and politicized views.

Afshin highlighted the current opportunity for the country, stating, “A very important window of opportunity has opened for the country, and we need to use all the capacities of specialists, divergent thinkers, and like-minded individuals.”

He pointed out that the vice presidency has taken and will continue to take significant actions to align and harmonize the organization.

Afshin also addressed the existing obstacles in scientific projects, citing cryptocurrencies as one of the challenges for which the vice presidency is continuously holding expert meetings to find effective solutions.
