Tri-partite deal: Iran using AI for disease prevention, prediction, treatment

A cooperation agreement has been signed between the Iranian Vice Presidency for Science, Technology and Knowledge-Based Economy, Tehran University of Medical Sciences, and the Endocrinology and Metabolism Research Institute to boost their synergy in various fields. 

According to the Communications and Information Center of the Vice President for Science, Technology, and Knowledge-Based Economy, the agreement underscores the importance of universities and research institutions in merging knowledge and practice and steering research activities toward practical, need-based projects that generate wealth through knowledge-based plans and studies.

The agreement, which emphasizes mission-oriented scientific activities, was signed by Hossein Afshin, the Iranian scientific vice president, Seyed Reza Raees Karami, the representative of Tehran University of Medical Sciences, and Bagher Larijani, the head of the Endocrinology and Metabolism Research Institute.

The main objective of the agreement is to develop targeted and intelligent support within the knowledge-based health technology ecosystem, focusing on omics and genomics studies, cell therapy in endocrinology and metabolism, personalized medicine, and the use of artificial intelligence for disease prevention, prediction, diagnosis, treatment, and prognosis. 

Ultimately, the goal is to innovate and produce semi-industrial and commercial products and services.
