VP says Iran welcomes Afghan elites contribution to scientific advancement

Iran’s Vice President for Science, Technology, and Knowledge-Based Economy, Hossein Afshin, has urged Afghan academics and scientific elites to participate in Iran’s technological progress.
He emphasized Iran’s commitment to supporting researchers, knowledge-based companies, and large-scale technological projects that could transform Iran and Afghanistan into an interconnected scientific ecosystem.
Speaking at the First Conference of Afghan Elites on Saturday, Afshin highlighted the historical and cultural ties between the two nations, stating that borders cannot restrict intellectual collaboration.
Afshin stressed that the connection between Iranians and Afghans extends beyond geographical borders, having been forged over centuries.
He noted that Iran’s Supreme Leader has ensured Afghan children can study in Iranian schools without discrimination, recognizing that fostering education is a strategic decision, not merely an act of compassion.
The vice president also spoke about opportunities for Afghan knowledge-based companies to operate in Iran.
He assured that Iranian universities welcome Afghan students not only for education but also for research and innovation, reinforcing their role within Iran’s scientific and technological landscape.
He advocated for synergy between Iranian and Afghan elites to drive innovation and shape the future.
Afshin concluded by stressing that Afghanistan is not just a neighboring country but a strategic partner in building a shared scientific and technological ecosystem.
