Iran launches natl. program to reduce road injuries: Embracing innovative solutions

Iran’s focus on road safety took a significant leap forward as Ruhollah Dehghani, Vice-President for Science, Technology, and Knowledge-Based Economy, unveiled a pioneering national program aimed at curbing road injuries through technological innovation. 

This initiative was announced during the 7th International Exhibition of Transportation, Logistics, and Related Industries, attended by key figures in transportation and law enforcement. 

At the exhibition’s opening ceremony, a cooperation agreement was signed, underlining the nation’s commitment to leveraging technological advancements to mitigate road injuries. Dehghani emphasized the crucial role of safe roads in propelling economic growth, highlighting the need for innovative solutions from knowledge-based companies to ensure transportation safety, thereby bolstering the country’s economy. 

Addressing the multidimensional nature of road injuries, Dehghani stressed their social and intellectual impact, extending beyond mere statistical data. 

He emphasized that road accidents not only inflict economic and infrastructural damage but also lead to profound emotional and mental repercussions for families, often resulting in irreparable loss and trauma. 

Highlighting the irreplaceable loss of talented individuals due to road accidents, Dehghani underscored the urgency of a comprehensive national program involving all institutions to prioritize road safety as a strategic imperative. 

He asserted that the most effective and efficient solutions to combat road injuries lie in technological innovations offered by knowledge-based companies. 

Dehghani’s vision revolves around prevention, analysis, and understanding of the dimensions of road accidents, aligning with the capabilities of over 10,000 knowledge-based companies to address these challenges. 

He expressed hope that the coordinating body, will support these companies in their efforts to mitigate road damage and enhance transportation conditions. 

As the exhibition continues, showcasing more than 85 knowledge-based and technological companies alongside others, Dehghani expressed optimism that progress reports on this national program would be regularly presented to the public, signaling a transparent and accountable approach to addressing road safety concerns.
