President honors Iranian gold medalist in 2025 intl. math olympiad

In a special ceremony held in Zanjan, Iran’s Vice President for Science, Technology, and Knowledge-Based Economy, Hossein Afshin, presented a personal gift from President Massoud Pezeshkian to Mehdi Aghajanlou, the Iranian student who won a gold medal at the 2025 International Mathematical Olympiad.
The event, also attended by Zanjan’s Governor Seyed Mohsen Sadeghi, celebrated Aghajanlou’s exceptional achievement on the global stage.
Vice President Afshin praised the young medalist and his family, emphasizing the government’s firm commitment to supporting the country’s top talents through institutions such as the National Foundation for Elites.
“Nurturing and encouraging gifted students like Mehdi is a national priority,” said Afshin.
“He represents the brilliance of a generation that, with dedication, has raised Iran’s flag at one of the world’s most prestigious academic competitions.”
He noted that President Pezeshkian’s gift symbolized national gratitude and recognition of Aghajanlou’s hard work and that of his family.
“This is just the beginning,” Afshin added. “Iran’s elite youth are expected to carry this excellence forward and contribute meaningfully to the nation’s future.”
