Iran VP: Kish Island can turn into export hub for knowledge-based companiesI’m

Iranian Vice President for Science, Technology and Knowledge-based Economy Ruhollah Dehghani Firouzabadi says Kish Island, in the Persian Gulf, has the potential to turn into an innovation and technology center and an export hub for knowledge-based products.

Dehghani said Kish was introduced as the country’s first free zone 40 years ago, and it grew rapidly thanks to its great geographical location, and the fact that the area played a significant part in promoting trade in the past years.

“But today, Kish Island’s mission should change to supporting knowledge-based, technological, creative and start-up companies,” he said.

The vice president said knowledge-based companies have been invited to launch production lines on Kish Island, in the Persian Gulf, southern Iran.

Employing the students of the island in these companies, customs facilities, creating a hub for the import of raw materials and the export of manufactured goods, providing unlimited internet can speed up the realization of that goal, he said.
