Iranian startup localizes production of specialized environmental adsorbents

An Iranian knowledge-based company has successfully developed localized high-performance adsorbents used for monitoring pollutants in workplaces and environmental settings—reducing the country’s reliance on imports and providing a strategic domestic alternative.

The company Danesh-Pajouhan Payesh Amin has produced over 20 specialized adsorbent products domestically, meeting international standards and replacing previously imported materials.

Elimera Darabi, CEO of the company, stated that the breakthrough builds on over 15 years of expertise in pollutant monitoring. “We are the only domestic producer of adsorbents such as activated carbon, silica gel, and XAD-2 and XAD-7 in various sizes. Leveraging local know-how, we now meet a major portion of the demand from environmental monitoring labs and industrial quality control centers across Iran.”

Darabi added that the company’s products have received ISO 17050 certification from IEC (UK) and have been approved by Iran’s Ministry of Health’s Environmental and Occupational Health Center.

She emphasized the strategic importance of these products in supporting critical industries, especially under sanctions and import restrictions.
“Our adsorbents are essential to maintaining safety and compliance in chemical, petrochemical, and research sectors. Beyond reducing costs, we’ve enhanced product durability and precision, positioning our offerings to compete globally.”

Custom formulations are also available upon request, Darabi noted, and some products have already entered the indirect export market.
