Iran’s vice president for science: Victory of understanding over distance was the greatest medal of technology Olympics 2025

The Iranian vice president for science, technology, and knowledge-based economy, tipped the 2025 Technology Olympics held in Iran as “a competition of minds and horizons,” emphasizing that its most meaningful achievement was “the victory of understanding over distance.”

Speaking at the closing ceremony on Thursday at Pardis Technology Park, Hossein Afshin said the event represented “a glimpse of the future, a place where borders are not made of barbed wire but of ideas, and nations cross them not with passports but with innovation.”

He noted that the competition showcased young participants excelling in programming, artificial intelligence, robotics, drones, and the Internet of Things.

“This Olympics was not about muscle but mind, where speed lies not in legs but in comprehension,” Afshin remarked.

Highlighting the importance of intellect and collaboration in the age of technology, he said the event transformed competition into cooperation, with teams from diverse cultures working together to find new answers to complex questions.

Afshin concluded by asserting that Iran aims to be “a hub where artificial intelligence and humanity coexist, a light by which others can see,” adding that science must return “from books to the spirit of society.”
