Iranian VP stresses need for developing knowledge-based companies in agriculture, fisheries sectors

The Iranian vice president for science and technology says one of Iran’s goals this year has been to develop knowledge-based companies in the field of agriculture and especially fisheries.

According to the IRIB news agency, Sorena Sattari, on the sidelines of the opening ceremony of an exhibition of knowledge-based companies in fisheries, said, “The number of knowledge-based companies in the field of agriculture is small as less than 4% of our companies operate in this field.”
Referring to a document issued by the government for the development of knowledge-based sector, Sattari said, “Good things have happened in the past 5 months and a follow-up committee has been established in this field.”
According to Sattari, during this period, many companies have joined the knowledge-based field, and private sector investment has gradually been attracted to this field.
The Iranian vice president for science and technology noted, “Ever since the Ministry of Agriculture, and especially the Fisheries Organization followed up on the issue, many companies have been attracted to the knowledge-based sector of agriculture, and we hope good things will happen.”
Sattari stated that the marine area has been neglected in Iran, adding, “The fisheries area has a lot of potential. It is pristine and technology can easily penetrate into this field.”
