Iran’s science and technology vice president marks Student Day, calls students ‘drivers of the country’s future’

Iran’s Vice President for Science, Technology and Knowledge-Based Economy and head of the National Elites Foundation, issued a message on Sunday celebrating the country’s Student Day, describing university students as central to Iran’s future development.

In his statement, Hossein Afshin said Student Day is “more than a date on the calendar,” calling it a reminder that students form “the beating heart of universities and the force that pushes Iran’s future forward.”

He emphasized that the country needs young people capable of identifying challenges accurately, generating scientific and creative solutions, and turning hope into action.

Recalling a recent provincial trip to Yazd, Afshin said conversations with students there reinforced his belief that Iran’s progress is driven not by institutions or official documents but by the motivation and determination of young people.

Afshin highlighted the role of classrooms, laboratories and innovation centers in shaping the country’s scientific achievements, including advancements in artificial intelligence and knowledge-based industries.

He said committed and skilled students remain the backbone of these efforts.

He concluded by congratulating students nationwide and expressing hope that their pursuit of science and skills will contribute to a “brighter and more secure” future for Iran.
