Ethiopia seeks to replicate Iran’s self-reliance model in technology development

The Speaker of Ethiopia’s House of People’s Representatives, Tagesse Chafo Dullo, praised Iran’s technological capabilities and said Ethiopia is interested in replicating Iran’s model of self-reliance in technology development.
Dullo made the remarks during a meeting on Sunday with the head of Iran’s Organization for the Development of International Scientific and Technological Cooperation.
He also visited the Iran House of Innovation and Technology alongside senior Iranian officials, where the Ethiopian delegation reviewed the latest technological and innovative achievements of Iranian knowledge-based companies.
Describing the showcased products as evidence of Iran’s technological strength, Dullo highlighted Iran’s 95 percent self-sufficiency in pharmaceutical and medical products, calling it a valuable and instructive model for Ethiopia.
He stressed the importance of science, research and development for sustainable growth, saying there is significant potential for expanding cooperation beyond current products and toward joint development initiatives.
Dullo noted that Ethiopia is pursuing a “We Can” approach to technological self-reliance and sees strong opportunities for collaboration with Iran in sectors such as agriculture, artificial intelligence and advanced technologies.
He also expressed appreciation for innovative Iranian products in transportation, construction, artificial intelligence, agriculture and the digital gaming industry, describing them as impressive and promising for future cooperation.
