Iranian knowledge-based company produces dressing for treatment of chronic wounds

An Iranian knowledge-based company has developed an advanced wound dressing made of polyurethane foam infused with antimicrobial agents, designed to treat a wide range of chronic and complex wounds.

That’s according to the office of the Iranian vice president for science, technology and knowledge-based economy.
The head of the Scientific Department of Trita Company said the product, marketed under the name TabaFlex.
Ali Sanjari noted that TabaFlex is made of polyurethane foam impregnated with an antimicrobial substance that absorbs wound exudate while providing disinfecting properties. According to Sanjari, each layer of the foam functions equivalently to 64 layers of sterile gauze and does not adhere to the wound surface. The dressing is suitable for patients with sensitive and fragile skin, absorbs exudate vertically, allows the wound to breathe, prevents bacterial penetration, and causes no damage to tissue or skin upon removal.
Sanjari said wound management is a major global healthcare challenge, adding that chronic wounds such as pressure ulcers, burns, and surgical wounds impose heavy treatment costs and significantly reduce patients’ quality of life.
He also referred to epidermolysis bullosa as one of the most severe skin disorders, in which extremely fragile skin leads to blistering and deep wounds even with minimal contact.
Sanjari said by enabling vertical absorption of exudate, effective moisture management, and a cushioning effect, the TabaFlex dressing creates ideal conditions for rapid and painless wound healing.
He said TabaFlex offers strong vertical absorption for effective exudate control, skin compatibility and adaptability to various body areas, prevention of adhesion to the wound, reduced pain during dressing changes, and adjustable adhesion throughout the treatment process.
Sanjari underlined that the dressing accelerates wound healing, minimizes damage to surrounding healthy tissue and serves as a high-quality domestic alternative meeting global standards for patients with special medical needs.
