Iran ends US monopoly on production of synchronous circuit breaker

US companies had a monopoly on the production of synchronous circuit breakers. But an Iranian knowledge-based company has indigenized and manufactured the product.

A member of the Board of Directors of Pars Sayan Electronic Tus Company, Zari Nosrati, pointed to the capabilities of the synchronous circuit breaker, saying the device is capable of reducing waste when transmission lines face a technical problem.
According to Ms. Nosrati, the most important application of the synchronous circuit breaker is in gas and oil pipelines, and this makes it possible to perform well in this field in the region. She went on to enumerate other capabilities of the Iranian-made breaker, including connecting and disconnecting the current in 50, 100 and 200 amp and 250 volt, eliminating switching noise and ensuring long life due to the use of electronic switches, making it possible to set the device at five separate dates, and synchronizing the break automatically in the event of power and battery failure for any reason.

Another capability of the synchronous circuit breaker, Ms. Nosrati added, is to maintain connection to power in an uninterrupted way.
The device is capable of resisting instantaneous current power up to four times the nominal current. It also can work with an external battery. Meanwhile, the device comes with an external GPS antenna that is equipped with a magnet and a 5-meter cable. All this makes the breaker more user friendly.
The board member of Pars Sayan Electronic Tus Company added that the US had monopolized the production of the synchronous circuit breaker but Iran managed to break this monopoly and sell the device at one-fifth of the foreign product’s price.
