Iran praised for role in nanotechnology standardization at Asian Forum Meeting

Iran’s efforts in advancing nanotechnology standardization at both national and international levels were commended during the Executive Committee meeting of the Asian Nano Forum (ANF), members said.
According to the office of the Iranian vice president for science, technology and the knowledge-based economy, Secretary of Iran’s Headquarters for the Development of Nano and Micro Technologies Emad Ahmadvand presented proposals that received strong support from participants.
Among them was the organization of a specialized workshop on nanotechnology standardization in cooperation with ANF members and the International Organization for Standardization’s Nanotechnologies Committee (ISO/TC 229). Based on the meeting’s decision, preparations for the workshop will be coordinated by Iran’s Nano Technology Development Headquarters.
The initiative aims to enhance scientific collaboration and strengthen the role of Asian countries in drafting global nanotechnology standards. The International Organization for Standardization’s Nanotechnologies Committe also approved Iran’s invitation for ANF member laboratories to participate in an inter-laboratory comparison (ILC) program for specific surface area (BET) measurement equipment. Participating labs will compare test results using samples provided by Iran to improve accuracy and quality.
In addition, Taiwan officially announced it will host the third International Student Nanotechnology Olympiad from December 12 to 18, 2026. The competition was originally launched by Iran, where its permanent secretariat remains based.
