Iranian animations shine at MIPCOM CANNES exhibit in France

A creative Iranian company operating in the domain of film-making has managed to draw the attention of European and Indian investors and sign investment contracts after presenting two animation movies called ‘Mewtoon’ and ‘The Owly Family’ to the MIPCOM CANNES exhibition held in France.

“In this company, our focus is mostly on producing animations for children, especially for the pre-school age group,” CEO of the Qaf company Alireza Taheri was quoted as saying by the Communications and Information Dissemination Center of the Presidential Office’s Department for Science, Technology and Knowledge-Based Economy.

“Accordingly, we run and studio called the Qaf Studio, which is operating in both (the Iranian city of) Qazvin and Istanbul (in Turkey),” he added.

“The Mewtoon animation was very well received at the MIPCOM event this year held in late October, and we managed to sign contracts with investors,” he explained.

“At MIPCOM and MIPJUNIOR, we held talks with 20 companies producing and ordering animations. We are ready to sing contracts with seven of them, and we finalized contracts with two of them,” he said.

He noted talks were held with five Indian and two Turkish companies as well on producing animations.
