Iranian company produces smart asphalt to reduce road accidents

An Iranian knowledge-based company has produced some type of asphalt that both boosts quality of roads and minimizes the possibility of car accidents. An official at Fannavari Ghir Zarrin Company said a key principle of progress in any country is the development of basic infrastructure. 

Massoud Alizadeh described transportation infrastructure as highly important for progress and growth of Iran, saying the company had to intervene to this end for the purpose of producing smart bitumen. 

Alizadeh added that one reason the company began working in the field was the high number of casualties caused by road crashes. 

The new smart bitumen is produced through polymerization. 

This has resulted in bitumen that, given its features, does not have many problems of the previous products. 

A key feature of the bitumen is its self-repairing property. Having a shape memory, it returns to its original form after possible failure. Another feature of the knowledge-based product is its depth and durability, which make it resistant to freezing and less slippery. All these features have minimized the possibility of accidents when people drive on roads covered with the bitumen.
