First Iranian company approved as Int’l Electrotechnical Commission licenser

An Iranian knowledge-based company has been accepted as the country’s first institution to issue laboratory licenses verified by the International Electrotechnical Commission (IEC).
Iran’s vice presidential office for science, technology and knowledge-based economy reported that Energy Industries Laboratories (EPIL) was approved after it was nominated by Iran National Standards Organization (INSO) and assessed by a team of experts from Australia, China, and South Africa.
For the next stage, EPIL was put on an international portal for voting according to the regulations by the International Electrotechnical Commission System for Certification to Standards Relating to Equipment for Use in Explosive Atmospheres (IECEx) and was okayed by 33 countries out of the 36 member states.
The Iranian company is expected to promote Iran’s international standing in identifying and introducing certification institutions, and testing laboratories and internal inspection companies.
It is also tipped to stop capital flight by boosting Iranian products’ credit in international markets.
