Iran, Uzbekistan emphasize joint commitment to tech cooperation

In a meeting between Iranian and Uzbekistani delegations, a strong emphasis was placed on the mutual determination of Iran and Uzbekistan to expand technological collaborations. Ruhollah Dehghani, the Iranian Vice President for Science, Technology, and Knowledge-Based Economy, highlighted the diverse areas of collaboration between the two countries, emphasizing technology and knowledge-based products. 

Dehghani, during the meeting with Fazliddin Muminov, the Deputy for International Cooperation Development of Uzbekistan, underscored the wide-ranging cooperation fields, including deep cultural ties and longstanding friendship as facilitators for bilateral collaboration. 

The discussions outlined a serious intent to deepen interactions between officials and companies from both sides. 

The collaboration between Iran and Uzbekistan isn’t solely focused on trade but also extends to various domains, aiming for substantial cooperation in research, academic collaborations, establishing a joint science and technology park, and defining technological projects. 

This visit by the Uzbekistani scientific and technological delegation during the IranMade (Made in Iran) International Exhibition showcases the profound relationship between the two countries. 

The hope was expressed that the new year would usher in a new chapter in Iran-Uzbekistan collaboration, especially in shared initiatives such as a joint science and technology park and defining technological and economic projects. 

The Iranian achievements in technology, research, and laboratory equipment were acknowledged by the Uzbekistani side, expressing interest in research and technological collaborations. The cooperation between Tehran-based Sharif University of Technology and Uzbekistan’s Academy of Sciences, along with the establishment of a joint science and technology park and collaboration of Sharif University in Uzbekistan, were highlighted as significant strides in this partnership. 

Javad Mashaiekh, the Deputy for Economic Development of the Vice Presidency for Science, Technology, and Knowledge-Based Economy, mentioned the ongoing collaborations formed during this visit and expressed hopes for their continuity, emphasizing the positive impression of Iranian capabilities gained by the Uzbekistani delegation. 

Ali Mohammad Soltani, the President of Iran’s National Science Foundation, pointed out the signing of a memorandum of understanding between the Iranian National Science Foundation and the Agency for Innovative Development under the Ministry of Science, Higher Education, and Innovation of Uzbekistan. 

He mentioned receiving 39 joint research proposals, indicating the researchers’ and technologists’ keen interest in this collaborative call. 

Soltani proposed starting the evaluation process of these proposals in Uzbekistan and Iran simultaneously to expedite the assessment and final decision-making within a month’s extension of the call for proposals.
