Iran plays key role in BRICS tech development

In a significant move towards fostering technological and innovative exchange, a representative from the Vice Presidency for Science, Technology and Knowledge-based Economy of Iran participated in the 6th Meeting of the Research Infrastructure and Major Scientific Projects Working Group of the BRICS Science and Technology Commission. 

This participation has set the stage for leveraging and exchanging Iran’s technological and innovative capacities with BRICS member countries. 

According to the information Center of the Vice Presidency for Science, Technology, and Knowledge-Based Economy, the event saw the presence of Amirhossein Mirabadi, head of the International Science and Technology Development Cooperation Organization. 

This engagement follows Iran’s membership in BRICS at the beginning of 2024, emphasizing the country’s active role in this international body. 

The 6th Meeting of the Research Infrastructure and Major Scientific Projects Working Group of the BRICS Science and Technology Commission was held in Russia from July 1st for four days. During this international meeting, Iran shared its experiences in creating and developing a technology and innovation ecosystem, showcasing its capacities and infrastructure in science, technology, and innovation, along with the capabilities of its knowledge-based companies in executing and leading major national technology projects. 

BRICS, led by emerging global economic powers, includes Brazil, Russia, India, China, and South Africa. From the start of 2024, Iran, along with Argentina, Ethiopia, the United Arab Emirates, Saudi Arabia, and Egypt, became permanent members of BRICS.
