Countdown begins to launch Iran’s Hodhod and Kowsar Satellites

After five years of continued efforts, two Iranian satellites, namely “Hodhod” and “Kowsar”, which were designed and built with the support of the office of the Vice President for Science, Technology and Knowledge-Based Economy, will soon be launched into space to develop space communications and the Internet of Things.

The communications center of the office of the vice president said Kowsar Satellite, which was designed and built after 2018, will play a role in achieving the goal by using remote sensing.

Also, Hodhod, which is the result of the new technologies developed since 2022, is going to be put into orbit to provide the Internet of Things services.

The launch of these two satellites will be the first step toward the formation of the “Do Nama” Satellite System. This system includes 200 satellites of the Hodhod and Kowsar types, which will provide full space monitoring and communications.

“Do Nama” consists of Hodhod (the Internet of Things satellite) and Kowsar (imaging satellite), an integrated system that provides services in various areas of the space base.

One of the most important applications of the system is trying to improve management and supervision in the transportation sector. This valuable achievement, which helps increase Iran’s space capabilities, is a manifestation of the realization of the leader of Iran’s Islamic Revolution’s statement that “Knowledge-based companies are the engine of Iran’s development, and by relying on homegrown knowledge and technology, they can overcome various challenges.”
