Nanocellulose used in advanced wound bandages

The CEO of Zistyar Mehrandish Company has said the firm plans to commercialize a wound bandage using nanocellulose. Zistyar Mehrandish Company produces the nanocellulose from sugary substances such as sugar by using bacteria.

Amin Rezaie says the company was seeking to use nanocellulose in industrial products after producing it from sugary compounds using bacteria.

The CEO of Zistyar Mehrandish Company noted that the firm decided to develop a wound bandage with the help of nanocellulose because such bandages are widely used in the market and nanocellulose can be very effective in this regard. “On this path”, he said, “we started a joint venture with an Iranian company”.
Rezaei added that Zistyar Mehrandish Company and the other firm produced this type of nanocellulose wound bandage and they have done the necessary tests.

He also said they are getting the required permits to produce this product in large quantities.

Elsewhere, the engineer said this kind of wound bandage that contain nanocellulose are called advanced wound bandage as they are protective and also help wounds heal. The wound bandage contains nanocellulose. As a result, it helps speed up the growth of the damaged tissues. Meanwhile, wounds do not get damaged while changing the bandage and the newly formed tissues do not come off the injured part of the body. It’s not yet known how nanocellulose works to quickly heal wounds. But some believe that the anionic structure of cellulose stimulates the growth of the tissues in the wound area. Moreover, nanocellulose is capable of releasing medicine in a smart manner inside the wound, thus making it possible to use less medicine for treatment. This automatically minimizes the risk of drug poisoning for patients suffering from burns.

The CEO of Zistyar Mehrandish Company predicted that they can launch the product within the next 6 months. The product that was initially designed for burn patients can now be used for any type of wound. The wound bandages have all the features required for the healing of a wound ranging from proper humidity to oxygenation.

He noted that the product has no foreign equivalent. A Finnish company has been developing the nanocellulose wound bandage and it is supposed to launch its product later in 2022.

According to the CEO of Zistyar Mehrandish Company, the technology used to produce this wound bandage is very new.
