Iran VP predicts number of knowledge-based companies to double in Ilam province

Iran’s Vice President for Science, Technology, and Knowledge-Based Economy announced plans to double the number of knowledge-based companies in Ilam Province by next year, according to the Communications and Information Center of the vice-presidency.
Speaking to reporters, Hossein Afshin highlighted Ilam’s potential for developing a knowledge-based economy, citing its skilled workforce and untapped capabilities.
Currently, Ilam is home to 24 knowledge-based companies, which are recognized for their high performance based on national evaluation standards. However, Afshin noted that this number does not align with the province’s potential, given its pool of local talent and academic experts.
Afshin emphasized the government’s commitment to supporting Ilam’s innovation ecosystem, stating that over 70 tech-based companies in the province are poised to transition into knowledge-based entities with minimal support and infrastructure development.
He revealed that, through targeted planning and incentives, the number of knowledge-based companies in Ilam is expected to grow from 24 to over 48 by next year.
During his visit to the province, Afshin reviewed local challenges and opportunities, pledging to present his findings to the president and the cabinet for further action.
He expressed optimism about Ilam’s future as a hub for innovation and technology, underscoring the government’s focus on fostering economic growth through knowledge-based initiatives.
