Iran to establish innovation, acceleration centers for sports technology

The Iranian government has taken a significant step toward integrating technology with sports by signing an agreement to establish innovation and acceleration centers dedicated to sports-related technologies.
According to the Vice Presidency for Science, Technology, and Knowledge-Based Economy, the agreement was signed between Hossein Afshin, Vice President for Science and Technology, and Ahmad Donyamali, Minister of Sports and Youth.
The initiative aims to foster the development of sports startups, support technology-driven solutions for the country’s sports sector, and facilitate collaboration between academia, industry, and government.
Under the agreement, the Vice Presidency for Science and Technology commits to providing financial and regulatory support for establishing these centers, expediting the approval processes, and organizing tech-focused events to connect startups with investors and key stakeholders.
The centers will focus on developing innovative products and services, addressing technological challenges in the sports sector, and promoting job creation through high-priority sports technologies.
The Ministry of Sports and Youth, in turn, will facilitate the integration of technology into the country’s sports ecosystem by identifying industry needs and connecting federations and affiliated organizations with startups housed in these innovation centers. It will also support collaboration between key stakeholders to enhance the sports sector’s technological capabilities.
