Iran unveils two strategic oil industry products

Two strategic oil industry products, used for monitoring, controlling, and inspecting oil pipelines, have been unveiled at the Science and Technology Campus of Ahvaz in southern Iran.
The unveiling happened in the presence of Iranian Vice President for Science, Technology and Knowledge-based Economy, Hossein Afshin.
The products have been manufactured by knowledge-based companies that are subsidiaries of Mazid Industrial Group.
The first is the Electromagnetic Inspection (EMI) tool, designed for non-destructive testing of seamless pipes.
The device, which was developed by Dana Sanat Etemad, marks a significant milestone as it is the first device of its kind produced in Iran and Asia capable of meeting pipeline inspection needs.
The EMI device efficiently detects defects and thickness variations in pipe walls and prevents unforeseen failures and costly operational delays.
Foreign models cost between $60,000 and $105,000. But the Iranian version is not only more affordable but has also been exported to the Persian Gulf countries.
The move has saved over $1.6 million in foreign exchange.
Thanks to this achievement, Iran has joined the club of five countries owning EMI technology.
The second product is PLT (Pipeline Telecommunication System) that has been developed by Electroxin Iranian Sanat, another subsidiary of Mazid Industrial Group.
This system uses existing oil and gas pipelines as a medium for data transmission to monitor pipeline conditions.
Unlike traditional telemetry systems reliant on GSM towers, PLT operates independently through pipeline walls, which makes it ideal for remote areas.
PLT’s advantages include reduced costs, faster implementation, and improved security against interference or sabotage.
Also, it ends dependency on external power sources as it provides energy for up to five years.
