CISTC boosts Iranian researchers’ presence in synchrotron labs

In a recent one-day conference, the Center for International Interactions of Science and Technology (CISTC) reinforced its commitment to supporting Iranian researchers in advanced synchrotron radiation laboratories worldwide.

The event, titled “Methods of cooperation with SESAME International Laboratory,” took place at the Basic Knowledge Research Institute, drawing the participation of officials, professors, researchers, and students.

Amir Hossein Mirabadi, the head of CISTC, highlighted the significance of Iranian researchers’ involvement in global synchrotron laboratories.

The center, in collaboration with the Institute of Basic Sciences, initiated a program in 2017 to facilitate the deployment of Iranian users to international synchrotron radiation laboratories.

Despite the challenges posed by the COVID-19 pandemic since 2020, CISTC resumed its support program in 2022, enabling 11 groups of Iranian researchers to work in renowned laboratories such as SOLEIL in France, SESAME in Jordan, ULTRA in Italy, and CERN in Switzerland.

Mirabadi expressed optimism that the Basic Knowledge Research Institute’s promotional efforts would encourage more research teams from universities and scientific centers across Iran to capitalize on the opportunities presented by synchrotron radiation laboratories.
