Iranian delegation participates in ECONEX technology forum in Pakistan

A high-level Iranian delegation took part in the ECONEX technology forum held in Islamabad and supported by Iran’s Vice Presidency for Science, Technology and Knowledge-Based Economy.
The two-day event, which concluded on Friday, was organized by the Economic Cooperation Organization’s Scientific Foundation (ECOSF) to promote regional scientific collaboration, according to the Vice Presidency’s Communications and Information Center.
The Iranian contingent included representatives from leading technology parks, universities, and innovative companies.
They joined counterparts from ECO member states, China, and Thailand for discussions on six key areas, including developing regional science and innovation ecosystems, enhancing commercial technology exchanges, human resource capacity building, health biotechnology advancements, sustainable energy solutions, and regional water resource management.
Pakistan’s federal minister for science and technology, Iran’s deputy minister of science, research and technology, ECO secretary general, and heads of Pakistan’s Higher Education Commission and ECOSF were among the notable attendees.
During the visit, the Iranian delegation conducted technical tours of Pakistan’s premier scientific institutions, including the National University of Science and Technology (NUST) and the COMSATS international organization.
The visits facilitated discussions on potential joint research initiatives and technology transfer opportunities.
The Economic Cooperation Organization (ECO), originally established in 1964 by Iran, Pakistan and Turkey as the Regional Cooperation for Development, continues to serve as an important platform for multilateral cooperation.
