Iranian company produces advanced cancer drug Vinorelbine using indigenous technology

The CEO of Sana Pharmed, a knowledge-based company and member of Iran’s International Innovation Zone, says the firm has successfully produced the first domestically manufactured cancer drug Vinorelbine using advanced technology. Previously only available through importation, this product is now mass-produced thanks to local technical expertise.

Saman Pourzia, CEO and co-founder of Sana Pharmed, said that developing this vital cancer medication took over three years. Due to the lack of domestic manufacturing infrastructure, the company established a specialized production line. The drug’s import cost exceeded $5 million, which will now be saved through localization.
Pourzia added that the drug, marketed as Sanarlebine, is currently available in specialized pharmacies and has received positive feedback from both doctors and patients.
The initiative aims to ensure equitable access to essential medicines and reduce treatment costs for families.
Support from Pardis Technology Park and the Hanam Pharmed accelerator has been instrumental in this success.
