Iran hails record progress in construction of smart, green schools in Shahriar

Hossein Afshin, Vice President for Science, Technology, and Knowledge-Based Economy, visited the ongoing construction of two National Organization for Development of Exceptional Talents (Sampad) schools in Shahriar near Tehran.
He described them as a symbol of timely project completion and a step toward building a more advanced Iran through creative human resources.
He announced that the schools will be inaugurated at the start of the new academic year in about one month.
“If a society is to be knowledge-based, competitive, and innovative, it must start with schools. A country cannot advance without the development of its schools,” he said.
Highlighting the unique features of the new facilities, he said the schools are being built as fully smart, green buildings with solar panels, advanced insulation, and building management systems.
Criticizing the 80 percent energy wastage in existing buildings, Afshin described the Shahriar project as a cultural step toward transforming construction practices in Iran.
The Shahriar schools project was launched following President Pezeshkian’s call for expanding spaces for gifted education.
Designed as a new generation of smart and green educational facilities, they will incorporate solar energy and advanced energy management systems, serving both as dynamic learning environments and as models for sustainable construction in the country.
