Iran oil industry witnesses surge in knowledge-based activities

Iran’s oil industry has seen a significant rise in knowledge-based activities over the past year.

The office of Iran’s Vice President for Science, Technology and Knowledge-Based Economy quoted Shana News Agency as saying that efforts to use domestic capabilities and develop local technologies have accelerated.

Shana News Agency, which is affiliated to the Iranian Oil Ministry, also said the ministry obtained permits for 14 strategic domestic products worth $2 billion. Additionally, 25 first-time production contracts worth $48.3 million were signed, with seven more projects valued at $16 million pending.

The report added that contracts with manufacturers in Khuzestan Pprovince more than doubled.

Meantime, the Oil Ministry also identified 313 first-time production projects, aiming to boost Iran’s position in energy technologies.

Over 1,600 essential items for southern oil fields, valued at around $300 million, were sourced domestically, saving equivalent foreign currency. Strategic projects include replacing operational vessels with domestically built ones, worth $500 million.

Scientific collaborations with universities and national research foundations target refining, logistics, and operations challenges.

These initiatives enhance self-reliance and support Iran’s oil industry globally.
