Iran produces seven knowledge-based diagnostic kits

A knowledge-based Iranian company has successfully designed and produced seven laboratory diagnostic kits for the first time in the country. This generates annual foreign currency savings of more than $17 million.

The office of the Iranian vice president for science, technology and knowledge-based economy quoted the head of Research and Development Department of Ideal Tashkhis Atieh Company as saying that the kits are used in the fields of rheumatology, anemia, and diabetes.
Mohammad Sajjad Emami added that the kits are supplied to medical diagnostic laboratories across the country.
Emami noted that several of these products were unveiled at an exhibition. These include four diagnostic kits: anti-cardiolipin, anti-phospholipid, anti-MPO, and anti-PR3, which are used by rheumatology subspecialists to diagnose autoimmune diseases such as vasculitis, thrombosis, and related conditions. Referring to the production of anemia diagnostic kits, Emami said that folic acid and ferritin diagnostic kits based on biochemical methods have been produced domestically for the first time.
He added that the company is currently the sole producer of these two kits in Iran.
Emami also spoke about the development of a fluorescence reader device used for rapid test kits, saying the device enables quantitative analysis by accurately measuring the concentration of the target substance.
Emami underscored that the domestic production of the seven diagnostic kits has resulted in significant foreign currency savings, amounting to approximately $17 million annually.
