Iran exports effective substances extracted from medical plants to Japan

An Iranian knowledge-based company has exported substances extracted from medical plants to Japan. 

The CEO of Ariana Shimi Giah Tirazis Company has said the business of producing herbal drugs and traditional medicine is booming given the increased activity in the field. 

Ms. Simin Zamanizadeh said the company is making an effort to increase its value chain and create added value to contribute to Iran’s technological ecosystem. She said a project the company is working on is aimed at extracting and purifying effective substances found in turmeric. Humans have always been interested in this unique spice’s anti-inflammatory and its therapeutic properties have been of interest since ancient times. In ancient Egypt and in the mid centuries of the Islamic civilization, turmeric was used as an antibacterial. However, scientific experiments have also confirmed turmeric’s anti-inflammatory properties. Ariana Shimi Giah Tirazis Company managed to extract curcumin from turmeric. 

Curcumin, along with other substances of turmeric, is used to produce various medicines including the drug for osteomyelitis. 

A host of knowledge-based companies are producing medical plants in Iran. People across the world are increasingly consuming drugs and food based on medical plants. 

The office of Iran’s acting vice president for science and technology says it hopes to develop the country’s innovative ecosystem with regard to medical plants through encouraging top students to create startups and join the field.
