Iran and Uzbekistan to launch joint scientific and technological park in Samarkand

Iran and Uzbekistan plan to set up a joint scientific and technological park in the Uzbek city of Samarkand.

Iran’s Center for Scientific and Technological Interactions cited Iranian Vice President for Science, Technology and Knowledge-based Economy Rouhollah Dehghani Firouzabadi as saying on the sidelines of his meeting with Uzbek Minister of Higher Education Ibrokhim Abdurakhmonov in Tashkent that the park will be built with the joint investment of the private sectors of both countries.

According to Dehghani, the scientific and technological park will be inaugurated in the presence of knowledge-based companies and startups.

Dehghani noted that preliminary discussions and stages to this end will begin in the next couple of months and both sides are obliged to provide the necessary infrastructure to build the park.

The Uzbek minister of higher education welcomed the proposal, saying his country seeks to work with Iran. Abdolrahmanov said the park will be established in Samarkand.

Iran’s vice president is going to also meet with Uzbekistan’s minister of industry during his stay in Tashkent.

He will also visit the InnoWeek 2023 exhibition in Uzbekistan where 25 Iranian companies are participating.
