President Raisi appoints Dehghani Firouzabadi as acting VP for science and technology

Iranian President Ebrahim Raisi has issued an order to appoint Rouhollah Dehghani Firouzabadi as Acting Vice President for Science and Technology.

Dehghani Firouzabadi on Thursday took over his post during a session with the council of vice presidents.

At the meeting, Dehghani Firouzabadi described the leader of Iran’s Islamic Revolution as the most influential figure in the development of the science and technology discourse in the country.

He said the leader works tirelessly and has made key policies to this end.

Dehghani Firouzabadi then praised his predecessor Sorena Sattari for his efforts to promote the discourse among people.

He said under Sattari, long strides were taken toward developing science and technology.

The vice president noted that the biggest challenge Iran faces is about the youth and that officials are serious about solving their problems.

Dehghani Firouzabadi said Iran’s problems will be resolved if decision-makers are chosen from among the scientific elite.

“I believe that I need to delegate powers to managers because a specialized manager will be more knowledgeable about his field of work than I am”, he added.

Dehghani Firouzabadi obtained his doctoral degree in aerospace from Iran’s prestigious Sharif University.

He has also held several posts so far including vice president of Sharif University for research and also associate professor of the university’s faculty of aerospace.
