Iran, Uzbekistan look to new chapter in cooperation on science and technology

The office of Iran’s vice president for science and technology says the visit by President Ebrahim Raisi to Uzbekistan had numerous trade and technological achievements for the country.

The office says it signed several agreements for cooperation on trade and technology with Uzbekistan.

Under the agreement, both countries pledged to increase exports of Iranian knowledge-based products to Uzbekistan and make joint investments for production of innovative and technological products.

Presidents of the two countries also reiterated the need to prioritize cooperation in the field of innovative and technological products, which the vice presidential office said, are expected to lead to a surge in exports of such commodities to Uzbekistan. 

Raisi was accompanied by a 40-mmeber delegation of knowledge-based and innovative companies during his visit.

The visit followed that of Vice President for Science and Technology Sorena Sattari to Tashkent, during which Uzbek official had called for a memorandum of understanding on technological cooperation to be upgraded to a mutual agreement.
