Iran, Cuba to boost sci-tech cooperation

Iran and cuba are to expand mutual cooperation in the domain of science and technology with strategic technologies taking cetner stage. 

The partnership deal was highlighted as Cuban President Miguel Díaz-Canel visited Iran’s Technology and Innovation House on December 09, 2023, accompanied by Rouhollah Dehghani, the Iranian Vice President for Science, Technology and Knowledge-Based Economy, and Iranian Minister of Health and Medical Education Bahram Einollahi. 

During the visit, Dehghani noted that Cuban authorities, namely the country’s president, are keen on developing science and technology and tapping into Iran’s innovative potential, adding, “Accordingly, very good multilateral meetings were held between authorities of the public and private sectors as well as business directors and investors of both countries, and at the moment, we are going through the phase of signing contracts and implementing joint technological ventures.” 

He said the Cubans have come to realize that Iran is taking the lead when it comes to cutting-edge technoligies such as nano-technology and biotechnology. 

“Having realized this capability of Iran, Cuba has expressed its areas of interest in order to utilize Iran’s achievements, experiences and capabilities, and this interaction will realize within the framework of joint projects, offering knowledge-based products and services and sharing technology,” Dehghani explained.
