Iran boosting agenda to support non-Iranian elites: Official

A senior official with the Iranian Vice-Presidency for Science, Technology and Knowledge-based economy highlights the need to benefit from the expertise and capabilities of non-Iranian elites in the Islamic Republic.

Amir-Hossein Mirabadi, the head of the Vice-Presidency’s Center for International Science and Technology Interactions, said different countries follow various agendas to use the capabilities of non-Iranian experts and elites.

He said Iran has also placed the same goal on agenda but the country had to systematize its plans, and that’s why the cabinet recently adopted a regulation titled ‘Supporting Non-Iranian Elites,’ based on the Vice-Presidency’s proposal.

“In Iran, we have specialists who are non-Iranians with good capabilities who offer valuable services, for whom a support mechanism has been formed with this regulation,” he said.

Under the regulations, these individuals will receive a special residency booklet and will be treated like Iranian citizens, without possessing Iranian citizenship, he explained.

“They can study in Iranian universities and scientific centers and establish companies, while their transportation will be facilitated. They can also open a bank account and they will have all the privileges of citizenship,” he said.
