A knowledge-based Iranian company has produced some herbal cream with higher therapeutic effects in treating skin lesions and ulcers from cutaneous leishmaniasis (CL), according to the Communication and Information Center of the Vice Presidential Office for Science, Technology and Knowledge-Based Economy.

Fariba Nemati, the CEO of the Behpad Teb Iranian Company, said the main goal of the company is to produce medicines that regulate the immune system used in the treatment of various diseases, with an emphasis on the treatment of cancer, infectious diseases, chronic inflammatory and autoimmune diseases.

The CEO added one of the specialized areas of the company’s activities is to identify and extract herbal immunomodulators, used in the cream, presented under the trademark LeishG1.

Nemati also said the cream can be used in clinics, healthcare centers, and even at home by patients in the epidemic centers in Iran and abroad, including the Mediterranean.

The cream has successfully completed laboratory stages and clinical studies and the formulation has been optimized in various clinical studies to remove the side effects.

Compared to the previous medicines, LeishG1 is more effective in healing small and medium-sized wounds and scars left by cutaneous leishmaniasis, Nemati said.
