Iranian knowledge-based companies have set an impressive record of a five-fold increase in the export of their products from 2020 to 2022, the recently-released official figures indicate.

The Communication and Information Center of the Vice President’s Office for Science, Technology and Knowledge-Based Economy prepared the report by analyzing 177,000 export and import cottages, or the registration of the declaration of import or export of goods in the customs, and over 5.5 million pieces of data provided by the Iranian Customs and the vice president’s office.

The report said, “Innovative companies, which has a share of about 20 percent of all knowledge-based companies, earned 67 percent of the revenues and had a share of over 75 percent of the exports and imports in this field.”

“In these years, chemical technology has had the largest share of exports with at least 50 percent, and the ratio has increased every year. The only technology area that has a positive trade balance is the advanced chemical area,” the report noted.

It added that the weight value of export of knowledge-based products has increased by 13 percent and the weight value of imports of the companies has decreased by 10 percent, which means domestic production of exported knowledge-based products have also increased.
