Two researchers with Iran’s National Science Foundation published the results of their analysis of the Iranian scientific and technological outputs cited in international patents in a report titled “Evaluating the Economic and Technological Effectiveness of Iran’s Scientific Outputs.”

The number of papers cited in international patents and the number of citations received from patents within the span of 2013 and 2023 were used as the indices for the study.

However, Iran is ranked fifth in terms of the total ratio of the citation received from the patent to the total scientific outputs.
