Minister: 500 Iranian knowledge-based companies cooperating with Oil Ministry

Iranian Oil Minister Javad Owji says 500 knowledge-based firms are currently working with the ministry under his watch in line with the ultimate goal of the realization of knowledge-based economy in the country.

Addressing a gathering at the Conference and Exhibition of Technology Management of Knowledge-based Products in Iran’s Oil Industry, Owiji said the Oil Ministry was making efforts to benefit from the capabilities of 7,500 knowledge-based companies active in the country to fulfill the technological needs of the country’s oil industry.

“Currently, 500 knowledge-based companies are cooperating with the oil industry,” said the minister. “The Oil Ministry’s ultimate goal is to realize the knowledge-based economy, which we believe will be fulfilled via proper interactions with other institutions and knowledge-based firms.”

In turn, Iranian Minister of Science, Research and Technology Mohammad Ali Zolfigol said Iran ranks first in the region in the production of science.

He added, “35 percent of the science production takes place with international cooperation. This means that the world has recognized the scientific authority of our country’s scientists.”
