Iran has 4 times more technology parks than South Korea: VP

Iranian Vice President for Science, Technology and Knowledge-based Economy Ruhollah Dehghani Firouzabadi says there are currently 70 technology parks active in Iran compared to 50 in South Korea.

He said this figures are despite the fact that around 50% of the Southeast Asian state’s gross domestic product is based on knowledge-based economy.

He said efforts have been made to turn PhD studies at universities into science and technology parks.

The vice president said, however, that it is not necessary for all students to get master’s and doctoral degrees, adding, “This country has many opportunities and capacities, but we must determine who the real elite is.”
