Iran, Senegal forge collaborative path in advanced tech

Ruhollah Dehghani, Iran’s Vice President for Science, Technology, and Knowledge-Based Economy highlighted the strategic plan of fostering cooperation with the African continent, emphasizing the readiness to establish production facilities and technology transfer in areas such as digital equipment, energy, agriculture, medicine, and greenhouses in Senegal. 

His meeting with Sheikh Kante, an advisor to Senegal’s President, paved the way for discussions on cooperation opportunities and mutual benefits in emerging sectors. 

Dehghani highlighted Iran’s strides in technology, showcasing over 10,000 knowledge-based companies that have generated specialized employment for about 400,000 individuals. Iran’s achievements in medicine, digital economy, and government transactions were lauded, aiming for a substantial share in the country’s GDP through technological advancements. 

Acknowledging Senegal’s stable political structure and promising vision, the Iranian official stressed the importance of scientific cooperation, aligning with Iran’s strategic focus on fostering relations with African nations. 

The emphasis was placed on initiating operational steps, promoting joint ventures, and expanding scientific collaboration. 

Dehghani extended an invitation to Senegal to explore Iran’s House of Technology and Innovation, showcasing high-tech products across various sectors. The intent to host Senegalese business delegations for interactions, business meetings, and exploring potential cooperation in areas like joint technological production was emphasized. 

Sheikh Kante affirmed Senegal’s commitment to cooperation, offering university facilities for joint endeavors, aiming to benefit from the Islamic Republic, especially in advancing the fields of science, technology, and knowledge-based economy. 

The agreement marked a significant step towards leveraging Iran’s advanced technological capabilities for mutual growth and development.
