Uzbekistan set to hit $1bn mark in technological ties with Iran

Uzbekistan’s ambassador to Iran says his country is planning on boosting its technological ties with Iran to reach an annual turnover of 1 billion dollars.

Visiting the permanent Iran Sakht (Iran-made) exhibition, Fariddin Nasriev said, “Last year, our cooperation with Iran in various fields of technology stood at about 500 million dollars and we are planning to increase that amount to 1 billion dollars.”

He hailed the cooperation with Iran as “fruitful for both counties”, explaining that agriculture and the textile industry have a special status in the bilateral ties.

The Uzbek ambassador said, “A delegation from the Republic of Uzbekistan has traveled to Iran to visit the exhibition in order to learn about the new technologies offered by Iranian knowledge-based companies.”

“The visit is aimed at evaluating the technologies that have been offered based on our needs so we can transfer them to Uzbekistan,” the Uzbek envoy further noted.
