Iran, Algeria enhance cooperation in knowledge-based economy, innovation

Iran and Algeria have signed a deal to boost their cooperation in economic, scientific and technological fields.

Iran’s Vice President for Science, Technology and Knowledge-Based Economy Rouhollah Dehghani Firouzabadi signed the agreement in Algiers on Monday with Algeria’s Minister of Knowledge, Economy, Startups, and SMEs Yacine el-Mahdi Oualid.

The agreement will pave the way for both countries to share their achievements and innovation and increase their cooperation in economically-viable knowledge-based innovation.

As stipulated in the deal, the two sides will establish a joint scientific and technological cooperation committee for meetings that will be held in Tehran and Algiers.

The agreement also ensures support for technology transfer projects and investment programs for new technology-based firms and start-ups in both countries.

Dehghani Firouzabadi accompanied a delegation of high-ranking officials, led by President Ebrahim Raisi, in a visit to Algeria to take part in the Gas Exporting Countries Forum (GECF) summit.
