Revolutionizing hemostasis: Iranian company unveils advanced topical bleeding stoppers

An Iranian knowledge-based company is on the verge of commercializing an innovative medical product called Advanced Topical Bleeding Stoppers. 

This advanced nanocomposite, known as Nanohem, aims to swiftly and effectively halt heavy bleeding. 

The product boasts features such as biocompatibility, protection against microbes, and the ability to maintain moisture in wounded areas. 

Mandana Asgari, the executive director of the knowledge-based company, Nanoteb Behnood, highlighted the diverse range of hemostasis products under development, including bone hemostasis, hemostasis bandages, nasal and dental tampons, and various dressings. 

Nanohem stands out for its use of bio-technology and nano-technology, utilizing peptide nanofibers designed with biotechnological knowledge. 

The product’s mechanism involves adhesion to blood components, forming a matrix that stimulates the coagulation cascade. 

Asgari emphasized Nanohem’s ease of removal, eco-friendliness, and lower cost compared to imported alternatives. 

Having obtained the ISO certificate and patents, the product is set to enter the commercial market after clinical studies. 

Additionally, the company produces absorbent dressings based on cotton fibers and a combination of absorbent and blood-binding dressings, offering dual functionality for absorption and bleeding control.
